Being a good neighbor is woven into everything we do

Beyond offering an exceptional stay, we invite our guests to connect deeply with the vibrant community of Quito’s Historic Center. Stay with us and immerse yourself in a truly unique mansion, while also supporting our commitment to preserving the city’s rich cultural heritage. Together, we weave the threads of a strong social fabric, fostering a resilient community with a deep sense of belonging and creating opportunities that enrich the shared spirit that defines us.

Sustainability Pillars

Local purchasing and emblematic businesses

The local community and its iconic businesses inspire us. These businesses thrive by adapting to the unique challenges of operating within a historic city structure. Casa Gangotena supports the purchase from local businesses in the Historic Center because it is committed to sustainable development and the preservation of Quito’s cultural heritage

Development-focused educational programs

Our goal is to implement educational programs that raise awareness and train employees, visitors, and local communities on sustainable practices, promoting responsible tourism and the conservation of natural and cultural heritage.

Shared urban space campaign

Together with De Vuelta al Centro, we promote citizen education to ensure our heritage space is respected.

In partnership with Fundación Sembrar, we welcome young individuals from vulnerable communities in the northwestern region of Quito. These communities face significant challenges, including high levels of violence, social exclusion, and limited opportunities. Through this initiative, participants gain valuable hands-on experience in the culinary arts, opening doors to a brighter future.

  • 6 young individuals have benefited from these internships, with 1 participant now permanently employed with us.
  • 119 university students have visited our facilities as part of educational programs designed to inspire and enhance their learning experience.
  • Dual Education Program: 10 employees are enrolled in this program to enhance their skills and expertise.
  • We support REDNI (Child Nutrition Network) in the Historic Center, to develop educational workshops on nutrition and health practices.

In collaboration with Unidos por la Educación and De Vuelta al Centro, we have worked in the renovation, provision of equipment, and enhancement of teaching practices at La Providencia School.

  • 72 classrooms, 79 teachers, and 950 children and young adults are now benefiting from this transformative program.

Local Culture Promotion

We promote the development of our city by connecting with its history, building meaningful relationships with its inhabitants, and revitalizing its environment through events and activities that celebrate local culture and traditions.

Promotion of Local Culture

Through artistic activations, community workshops, and concerts, we aim to become a gathering and celebration space for the entire community, fostering pride and a sense of belonging in our historic center.

  • A total of 60 artistic activations, 25 community workshops, and 30 concerts have been carried out in support of the De Vuelta al Centro Festival.

The beautification of a city goes beyond aesthetics; it is a process that strengthens collective identity and local pride through the revitalization of public spaces, cultural promotion, and active community participation.

  • 20,000 geraniums have been planted in the Historic Center, integrating the community through educational nurseries.
  • We donated 52 native trees and 6 wax palms, contributing to the reforestation of Quito’s Historic Center. In coordination with the Metropolitan Heritage Institute, we ensure tree maintenance for two years, reaffirming our commitment to a greener and more sustainable city.
  • We support an initiative to paint a 1,000 m² mural connecting the Humboldt Viewpoint with the iconic Plaza de San Francisco.
