We would like to inform you that the first of two 3-month phases of Quito’s Metro construction project has concluded, which means that all of the most intense work has come to an end. This first phase entailed elevated levels of visual and noise pollution, vibrations and the presence of heavy machinery (mainly cranes and drills), all of which are gone by now. As we enter this second and final 3-month phase, Casa Gangotena will experience virtually zero levels of noise, vibration and considerably less visual pollution. Additionally, construction on the foundation floor of the plaza is underway which will then be followed by the placement of cobblestone. Despite a portion of the plaza remaining off-limits still and the lingering presence of some smaller machinery, we are very satisfied with the progress that has been made on the project.
